Presented by Publishers Weekly and the Association of American Literary Agents

May 22, 2024

#USBOOKSHOW

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Publishers Weekly and the Association of American Literary Agents (AALA) will present an in-person educational conference for agents, editors, marketers and book publishing professionals. The much-anticipated event, hosted by NYU’s SPS Center for Publishing and Applied Liberal Arts at NYU’s Kimmel Center in New York City, will bring the industry together for continuing education, discussion of emerging trends, and networking to foster relationships within the publishing community.

Last year’s conference brought in hundreds of professionals and featured a keynote by James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble, workshops and thought-provoking panels helmed by respected agents, editors and experts. Topics ranged from copyright to auctions, metadata to audiobooks, bestsellers to burnout.

In 2024, the conference will address emerging technologies and the AI landscape, diversity, publisher consolidation and growth opportunities as well as diving into bread-and-butter issues that can affect daily effectiveness and careers. Programming information will be released in the coming weeks as speakers and topics are confirmed.

If you live outside the NY area, this would be the ideal time to plan your trip to New York City.

Registration will open on March 1, 2024. AALA members receive preferential pricing and when you register before April 30, 2024, you can take advantage of early bird discounts. This is an in-person conference. Space is limited.

PW is thrilled to partner with the AALA on presenting a thoughtful program focused on moving our shared industry forward with a meaningful exchange of ideas and information” says Cevin Bryerman, CEO and Publisher of Publishers Weekly. “While we will move away from the show’s original concept of focusing on forthcoming books this year, we are certain that this conference will fill a void and bring people together to learn and network.”

“The AALA is incredibly excited to be pioneering with PW a new vision of the US Book Show where fostering an exchange of ideas, education and community for literary agents and the publishing community are at the forefront,” says AALA President Jennifer Weltz. “It’s about time we all came together to ignite enthusiasm for our beloved business of books.”

We look forward to seeing you in person on May 22.
