CALL FOR BOOK SUBMISSIONS

PW is putting together a rich slate of programming for the upcoming U.S. Book Show (May 22–25, 2023). To that end, we are soliciting pitches for an array of events, including editor picks panels, author panels, and keynotes. More info on what we are looking for in each is below. The deadline for all submissions is March 3, 2023.

EDITOR PICK PANELS

For the 2023 U.S. Book Show, we are bringing back our popular editor picks panels.

This year, the adult titles will be selected from submissions received for consideration in PW’s Fall 2023 Adult Announcement Issue in the following categories: general fiction, mysteries and thrillers, biography and memoir, and current affairs. We will be sending out a call for submissions for the announcements feature in early March.

See below for information on submitting picture books, middle grade, young adult and comics and graphic novels for adults and kids. – please make this stand out

PW‘s reviews editors will choose the books to be featured in each panel, and the event format will allow for the editor of each of the chosen titles to have three to five minutes to pitch the book to the audience, a mix of booksellers, librarians, media and others in the trade. The pitches will be presented live and virtually on Thursday, May 25 with live Q&A session with the editors moderated by a PW editor.

To be considered for the picks panels, please email us with a proposal outlining your major titles publishing between August 1 and December 31. Each submission should include the book title, author, the name of its editor, a synopsis of the book, a summary of your marketing and publicity plans, a digital galley if available (PDF or Word doc is fine), and a contact name and info. Please limit pitches to no more than two per imprint per category.

Send submissions to the email addresses below.

AUTHOR PANELS

There will be two author panels, one focused on major fall titles for adults, and one focused on major fall titles for children and young adults. For these events, which will be moderated discussions, we are interested in established marquee authors who have books publishing between August 1 and December 31.

***The author panels will be presented live and livestreamed from NYU’s Kimmel Center on Wednesday, May 24. If pitching, note that it is the publisher’s responsibility to manage their author’s travel and stay in NYC. Additionally, we recommend (but do not require) that publishers provide physical galleys to an audience of 200.

KIDS & YA

To submit for consideration, please send an email to authorpanelkids@publishersweekly.com containing the book title, author, a synopsis of the book, a summary of your marketing and publicity plans, a digital galley if available (PDF or Word doc is fine), and a contact name and info. You may submit a book for consideration for both an editor picks panel and an author panel. Please limit submissions to two per imprint per panel.

KEYNOTES

There will be author keynotes and interviews/discussions with adult and children’s authors, including authors and illustrators of comics and graphic novels throughout the show. These sessions will be a mix of recorded and live talks.

The format is flexible and might include a PW moderator or a book’s editor in discussion with the author or speaker. Ideally, the keynote authors will have a book that publishes in 2023, with August 1–December 31 pub dates preferred. You may submit a book for consideration for both an editor picks panel and for keynote consideration.
