NEW YORK—March 27, 2023—Sarah Jessica Parker, Roz Chast and Mitch Albom are among the marquee stars who will keynote at the 2023 U.S. Book Show. Also appearing in person are the bestselling authors Lauren Groff, Booker longlistee Kiley Reid and Young People’s Poet Laureate Elizabeth Acevedo. Now in its third year, the show is a four-day hybrid event for publishing professionals, media, librarians and booksellers, taking place May 22–25, 2023, in person at New York University’s Kimmel Center and livestreaming for a virtual audience.

Sarah Jessica Parker is an Emmy– and Golden Globe–winning actress and television producer best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City, which ran on HBO from 1998–2004. Her new imprint, SJP Lit, launched a year ago with independent publisher Zando Projects. Ms. Parker is working with Zando’s CEO and publisher, Molly Stern.
Kim Coleman Foote is the debut novelist who will be in dialogue with Ms. Parker at the show. Coleman Hill: A Biomythography (SJP Lit/Zando, September) fictionalizes the author’s family’s experience of the Great Migration from Alabama and Florida to Vauxhall, New Jersey, from 1916– 1980s.
Opening the Adult Books segment of the show is Lauren Groff, author of the forthcoming The Vaster Wilds (Riverhead Books, September). The bestselling novelist and short story writer is a the author of six acclaimed books, most notably Matrix and Fates and Furies.
The New Yorker staff cartoonist Roz Chast is slated to discuss I Must Be Dreaming (Bloomsbury, October), her forthcoming graphic narrative. Winner of a Heinz Award, Chast also won the National Book Critics Circle Award for her 2014 New York Times #1 bestseller, the graphic autobiography Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant.
The children’s program opens with a previously announced keynote by Meg Medina, the current National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature and Newbery medalist whose middle-grade books dive into Cuban American and Latino culture.
The adult “Big Books” panel this year features three widely lauded authors. The poet and YA author Elizabeth Acevedo (The Poet X) makes her adult fiction debut with Family Lore (Ecco/HarperCollins, August). Mitch Albom, the bestselling author of Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven, discusses his first adult novel set during the Holocaust, The Little Liar: A Novel (Harper, November). To round out the panel, Kiley Reid, author of Such a Fun Age, long-listed for the Booker Prize, dives into her second novel, Come and Get It (Putnam, January 2024).
The U.S. Book Show is presented by Publishers Weekly and hosted by the NYU School of Professional Studies Center for Publishing and Applied Liberal Arts.
